Content is
king. It may seem
obvious but to help drive traffic to your Website you'll need
quality content.
What do I mean by
this?
Well there's no point just
slapping down any old words and hoping for the best. No, you
need to be a bit more clever. In the previous article I talked
about how to optimize your page title (If you missed it, you can
read it again
here
). Well the same principles apply to
optimizing the actual content of your Website. It
does make me laugh when I see all those web companies charging a
small fortune to optimize Websites in an attempt to rank higher
in Search Engines. Anyone would think it's extremely difficult
to achieve. Believe me, it's not that difficult at
all. I'm assuming you've read the first article and
have optimized your web page title?
Ok, now we need to optimize our page
content. Let's start with a heading. Notice the
heading at the top of this page "Search Engine
Optimization Articles & Tips" it contains all the
keywords from the page title. This is a good thing
and Search Engines seem to like it, so I would strongly advise you
implement this technique on your own site. It's important
also to have your page heading at the top of your Webpage and make
sure it's in "bold " too, again Search
Engines seem to like this.
It's also advisable
to make sure your heading is formatted as a heading!
What the hell does that
mean Rob I hear you cry? Let me explain, If you're using an
HTML editor to produce your webpages then there will be an
option to format text as a Heading or H1. This is an
important tip and you should make sure your Webpage heading is
formatted as such. If you're writing you're own HTML
then in the source code simply enclose your page heading
with the following HTML tags:
<H1>Search Engine Optimization
Articles & Tips</H1>
Great, now our Webpage heading
is better configured for Search Engine
Optimization. We need to optimize the body of your
Webpage by writing our content, in this case I'm talking
about Search Engine Optimization. You need to make
sure you sprinkle keyword phrases throughout the body
of the Webpage. Now don't go mad here, you don't won't to spam
your keywords which would be counter productive. Instead just
write normally and you'll find your keywords will logically fall
into place within the body of your page.
I should mention here that If
your still struggerling with keyword phrases another software tool
you should try is Wordtracker. The great thing
about Wordtracker is it's ability to tell you how
many Websites are competing for the same keyword phrase.
I'm sure you can appreciate that this information is invaluable
and it's the software I personally use to help find my
own keyword niches. I strongly
recommend you take a look, even if
your using Good Keywords. Here is the
link:
http://www.wordtracker.com
It's good practice to have your keyword phrases
at the start middle and end of your Webpage. You may also what
to underline and bold certain
words . It
all helps, and is good on page Search Engine
Optimization practice.
Try also including H2
and maybe H3 header tags within the body of your
Webpage. The secret here is not to over do it.
Remember, you want people to read your content and they're not going
to do that if it looks like a 5 year old has
designed it. Keep it simple, neat, readable and
sprinkle the odd keyword in from your Webpage title / Webpage
heading and you'll be onto a winner.
It really is that
simple!
